Local First Program
Pennian Bank is committed to supporting the organizations that better the lives of those in the communities where we live and work. In August 2020, we released the Local First Program, a cost-free way for local organizations to get quarterly donations from the Bank.
How does it work?
Any organization with 501c status or a recent 990 tax
return, and a Pennian Bank account, can apply. Once an organization is
approved, they are tasked with gaining 20 “supporters.” Supporters are those
with an eligible Pennian Bank account type that designate their account to the
organization. Supporter forms and additional information are found here.
Once the organization gets to 20 supporters, a percentage of
the average monthly balance of the supporters’ accounts is calculated,
resulting in a donation for that quarter. The best part? No money is ever
taken from the supporters’ accounts! Donations are made directly from Pennian. It’s
a cost free way for our customers to support their favorite local organization.
Recently, Join HandsMinistry was the first organization to receive a
quarterly donation from this program. They were the first to join and they
quickly reached 20 supporters.
