Part of our Community with Patty Turner
Employees in the Community
Pennian Bank encourages its employees to be actively
involved in the communities we live in. For this blog we’ve chosen to feature
an employee who continues to go above and beyond to help out a local
organization.
Employee: Patty Turner
Location/Position: Customer Service Representative at Bloomfield Borough
How long with
Pennian: 22 years
Volunteer Work: Patty has volunteered for the Relay for Life in Perry County for 13 years.
Why Does She
Volunteer: “I joined the Relay for Life committee thirteen years ago when
my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was passionate about their mission:
to work with The American Cancer Society to research a cure for all cancer.”
Biggest Challenge: “While we live in a small community that
is very generous, I also know that it has its drawbacks. Everyone gets hit by
every other organization for donations, which makes is difficult to raise money
at times. It can be challenging to find new ways to fundraise.”
Most Rewarding
Aspect: “The most rewarding part of
volunteering is knowing that in some way, I helped find a cure. It may not
happen tomorrow, but we have definitely make great advances. Unfortunately,
this is an organization that touches all of us.”
